EC&D is an authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent and is permitted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to:

• Conduct gopher tortoise surveys;
• Capture gopher tortoises using hand shovel excavation of burrows;
• Mark, transport, and release captured gopher tortoises; and
• Supervise backhoe excavation of gopher tortoise burrows and capture gopher tortoises.
